Don't forget to give this Facebook page a like!: I'm Just Your Problem.

A fellow Fan-Fic enthusiast! :) I started working on a Fallout fan-fic I had the idea for years ago recently, so I'm very much a noob but I'm excited to be working on it! Thanks for the visit today :)
Sweet.  Just follow your heart and write the story you want to tell your readers, not tell the story your readers want you to tell them.  And one major thing I learned as a creative writing major is to AVOID THOSE CLICHÉ'S!!!  And, if you haven't posted your first chapter yet, make sure your opening sentence catches your readers attention; actually, make sure your first word grabs your readers attention and pulls them further into the first sentence, then further onto the next sentence and so on and so forth.
There's a lot of fanfics out there, and each one has a plot that may or may not be similar to one already out there.  So, be sure to distinguish your story so you capture your readers' imaginations. :)  Just some friendly advice.  Oh, and don't get down if your story doesn't get noticed by a lot of people for a while.  That's usually the case with new fanfic stories.  The same goes for reviews and feedback; a lot of readers can't be bothered to even write out a few words on their thoughts of your story while others simply just don't give you real feedback, resorting to just writing that they liked it and that they hope you continue.  You'll get a lot of that instead of real feedback.
That's great advice man, thanks so much. One thing I am already doing is avoiding cliche's - it can be HARD. In the very least, I figure if a cliche comes in, its probably best done with a sense of irony or some other embedded meaning. Also, I got over my fears two nights ago and did a Google search for Fallout Fan-Fic. I found some stuff that seems to be quite good, over 100k words, which I guess could be intimidating but none of it seems to be quite on the lines that I want to set on - most of the better looking stuff focuses on New Vegas and the Mojave, whereas I am focusing mainly on parts of the Fallout 3 story line in DC and area. Right now I'm working mainly on building characters.

Thanks for the words bro, I will keep all of that in mind. Cheers!
Welcome.  If you ever need anymore advice about fan fiction, just contact me on the sites that I've listed on my profile description.  I'm not going to be using dA any longer.
